I. IMPERIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
Emperor Stephanus Galtier: Last weekend I awarded the first annual Imperial laurel of Honor to our good friend, Senator Tybalt.
II. TRIBUNATE REPORT
Ruggeris Britannicus: Ras Parthicus, Tribune lead, congratulated Tribune Alexei on his recent appointment as Proconsul, which was echoed by the floor.
Summary of the issues the Tribunate had passed upwards during the term: Improved Baths in Romanum; Urban Design (removal of trees); Election of Tribunes and Other Changes; Building Assistance in Times of Calamity; Upgrade of Free Clothing in Welcome Pack; Roads In Romanum;
Suggested changes to the Welcome Centre; Upgrade of external area of Taverna; Convention on the 2011 Servi/Slave Policy
The following issues are with the Emperor and Consuls for their consideration or involvement:Submission re:Urban Design (removal of trees); Servi/Slaves: following the 6 October special conference about the matter of recruitment, training and retaining of servi/slaves in Romanum.
Once the Emperor has approved, it is planned to bring together a small group to develop any changes deemed necessary to the current 2011 Servi/Slave Policy. It is envisaged that such a group would include 2 Senators 1 or two Tribunes and 2 plebeians/servi. The current Slaver would also be invited to the group. (This item may restart with the installation of the new Tribunate.)
Items before theSenate are: Proposal for Building Assistance in Time of Calamities; Proposal that the free Romanum clothing in the Welcome pack in the Visitor Centre be upgraded to a more stylish yet simple garment in tune with 2nd Century fashions; Proposal to widen the Romanum streets and roads allowing chariots.
Senate Lead Booker advised "item concerning roads was discussed by the Senators earlier and they have some suggestions to send to the Emperor and Consuls for their consideration. It would be premature to handle it in the open meeting. So it shall be tabled."
He went on to thank the current Tribunes for their work, and the past Tribunes also for their valuable contributions. Tribunes Alexei and GaryMike added their thanks to their fellow Tribunes. Tribune GaryMike also conveyed his regrets at not being able to stand again owing to clashes with RL timings and Tribunate meetings.
Tribune Ruggeris summarised the progress on the Welcome Centre Update. Popov generously offered to participate in the update by contributing his skills to taking pictures.
Lead Tribune Ras outlined the voting procedure and timetable for the next Tribunate.
Nero Antonius Drako: I want to publicly thank the outgoing Tribunes for their service and dedication to the community.
III. TRIBUNE ELECTIONS
[Scribe note: The election results were not available at the time of the meeting but are included here as an extraordinary minutiae addendum, for the official record]
The following four candidates were elected as Tribunes for 2019:
Ras Parthicus - 37
Ruggeris Britannicus - 31
Popov - 20
Markus Vindelici - 16
A tie breaking election will be held (voting will end on 23FEB) between Asharr Furius Panius and Tᴀᴛɪᴜꜱ Aɴᴛᴏɴɪᴜꜱ Cᴀᴘʀī who each received 14 votes.
Cassius was not elected at 13 votes.
IV. WELCOME CENTRE RENOVATIONS
Ruggeris Britannicus: The Welcome Centre work continues steadily, but slowly, as there is a great deal of material and undecided details yet to be completed. We have had an encouraging number of volunteers for "Models" of the different roles in Romanum to be illustrated in the walls, and Popov is beginning to arrange to take pictures of the first ones allocated. There are one or two of the great families not represented and I would like to reach out to them now, to come forward so that our WC is as reflective of us all as a community as possible. I would also, ideally like the people portrayed to be as diverse as possible.
There are one or two technical aspects we would be grateful for help with, in particular, in the making of a screen to show Romanum YouTube videos continuously, and how to effectively embed those, vis-a-vis Linden restrictions, and the best possible moving sky ceiling, which we are proposing as a way to give illusion of height in the room. If anyone has specialist knowledge in these areas I'd be grateful if they would contact myself or Ras.
We still need to find someone to make new Welcome Pack clothing for us, in all sizes, ideally a tunic, toga and loincloth, as well as sandals for each, and to translate the notecards therein into different languages. Again, any thoughts on that is most welcome.
I want to thank all those who are already contributing time and knowledge to us, and who have offered to be models. It's a great tribute to the Romanum community that so many are involved. There will be further updates as necessary.
Nero Antonius Drakon: In terms of the new outfits, if it would help to pay a designer, I am willing to contribute to such a fund and I am sure others would be as well.
V. CITY ACTIVITIES
- Lupercalia
Asharr Furius Panius: Lupercalia is a festival to avert evil spirits and purify the city, releasing health and fertility it celebrates Lupus. As part of purifying and fertility there was a naked race through the city and those wishing fertility would he hit with leather belts as they ran.

Markus Vindelici: Now that Asharr is planning Romanum events too, I would suggest that he become the 4th Coordinator to ensure better collaboration. This also applies to all other event or RP planners
Janu Shimada Vindelici:
- Discussions have taken place to finalise the job description of the Co-ordinators
- Access to the Romanum calendar is being updated. If you want an event added to the Calendar, please contact Markus or me. Also let us know if you want an event removed.
- The Flamen Martialis is planning festivities to celebrate the Feast of Mars, in mid-March
- Also in March there will be the anniversary celebrations, and Olympics. If anyone is interested in running an auction, please contact Markus or me.
- If anyone wants to plan an event, and would like assistance we are ready to advise.
Emperor Stephanus Galtier: I am about 80% done on the new Candyboy Animal Reserve. Look for a grand opening party next month.
ƛԼЄҲƖ ŔƠMƛƝƠѴ-ƤӇƠЄƝƖҲ): it was my understanding that the calendar access was being edited and expanded to Consul and proconsuls?
Emperor Stephanus Galtier: Correct Alexi
Markus Vindelici: About the anniversary: maybe we could try a new run of the Mr. Romanum election as part of the anniversary. Please send suggestions to the Coordinator team. It would be a shame if this competition had to be canceled due to lack of interest
Janu Shimada Vindelici: Trying to organise that alongside the Olympics might present real challenges but let's see.
Asharr Furius Panius: Thats a great idea Markus, also debate is going on as to the old Pan's Shrine site as to what it will be after Lupercalia but will be available for use if needed for anniversary done
Ruggeris Britannicus: Perhaps Victor Ludorum from the Olympics might be crowned Mr Romanum, if not a separate competition?
Meeting concluded. Next Senate open meeting on Sunday 10 March at 11:00am SLT.
Gratitude to Senator Januarius Shimada-Vindelici for chairing the meeting and providing the transcript to the Scribe office.
